Season “Investing time in myself” · Episode 1

April 2025

Learn · 1 November 2026

In April 2025 I was at my peak, for two weeks.

Around 5 April I ran my best half marathon, under two hours. I had prepared for it completely on my own, after a lot of running training. A week later, on 12/13 April, came my best HYROX Pro, in Warsaw, at PGE Narodowy, in 1:11:02. I took that one on together with a friend.

Two very different experiences. One I settled with myself alone. The other was twice as good because there were two of us; the social side of events like this is a really cool thing.

I still love it today, and not because of the comparison a competition gives you. I love it because I find out for myself what's possible.

A few days after Warsaw I was playing football outside with my kids. So the most dangerous sport that month wasn't HYROX. Diagnosis: Weber C fracture. Put simply, the ankle was completely broken. Two weeks in hospital, several operations, and for almost three months I couldn't walk.

From the best shape I've ever been in to almost three months without walking, in a few days. Everything in this season has sat before or after that point since then, with all the highs and lows, physical and mental.

In those two weeks in April I found out what was possible. In the three months after, how fast it can be gone.
