Season “Investing time in myself” · Episode 3

I never thought about health

Think · 1 November 2026

I never thought about my health. Really never. Then we had a loss in the family, and that got me thinking.

I think it's like that for a lot of people. In our society almost everything revolves around other things. And when you're young, nobody teaches you anything about health, because it's just there. You have it, so you don't think about it.

When you're young, you also don't see how old people grow old. You're busy with yourself. That changes in very small steps. You see people around you die, get injured, see things stop working the way they did ten years ago. The older you get, the more often you see how hard life gets when people are old and no longer healthy.

That's when I understood that this is a decision too. Do I want this life, or maybe a different one?

It's the same question I ask myself about money. I want to decide what I do with my time, and I don't want my body to decide what I can still do and what I can't. If you eat too much, at some point you have to go to the gym, because yesterday's food decided it. I want to go because I want to.

That doesn't mean everyone has to love sport. If you decide you don't like sport, it gets hard. That's a decision too, and it's yours.

Until that loss, I simply had my health. Since then, I decide it.
