The endless game

A number is the exit from the endless game. If you only chase “more”, you play business like a computer game with no end, and you don't get out, because going in wasn't your own decision. The casino in Percy Jackson: you play and lose time, round after round. To me that feels like doomscrolling, not like freedom. With a number and knowing why it's that number, the game becomes a project: reached, checked off, next goal. Nobody says: “If you want a Lamborghini, raise the number to 500.” If you want to play the game forever, you can; it can make people happy. It's not my goal.
